Who is Eligible?
Breast and Cervical Cancer Medicaid Program
Effective July 1, 2001, New Jersey will offer coverage for
cancer treatment to uninsured women through the Medicaid program. This program
was established under the federal Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and
Treatment Act of 2000 which provided federal funding for provided services to
women who have been screened under the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early
Detection Program (NJCEED) program and found to need treatment for breast and or
cervical cancer.
Service Delivery:
Applicants will receive full Medicaid (fee for
service) coverage during the time that the woman needs cancer treatment, i.e.,
inpatient hospital, doctor visits, dental, prescription drugs, etc.
Presumptive Eligibility (PE) is available,
allowing prompt enrollment and immediate access to services at the screening
site.
Cost sharing is not required.
Eligibility Criteria:
Uninsured women under age 65.
Financially eligible for the NJCEED screening
(income at or below 250% of the
Federal Poverty Level.

- No asset test required.
- Screened for breast and/or cervical cancer
through one of 25 NJCEED sites
and requires cancer treatment.
- New Jersey resident.
- Citizen or legal immigrants (5 year bar applies).
